Notes from the Åcon 11 non-book recommendation circle, Mariehamn 2022.
Terraforming Mars (board game, Fruxelius). You play as an org that
wants to terraform mars. Aim is some atmosphere, ocean and decent
temperature. Can be played solo or competitive with common goal.
Stellar horizont (board game). Explore the solar system from 2040,
realistic physics, designed by space physists.
Nir Automata (japanese computer game). Kind of open world in
different modes. You play robots on earth while the humans are on
the moon. Great music, many different endings.

Jag har äntligen läst Cory Doctorows
Little Brother.
Den gavs ut redan 2008, och är fortfarande en obehagligt realistisk
skildring av en möjlig nära framtid.
Efter en terroristattack i San Fransico trappar Department of Homeland
Security upp sin verksamhet.
Sjuttonåriga Marcus Yallow och hans kompisar spelar ett spel med inslag
av geocaching.
Dessutom har de lärt sig hur man lurar skolans övervakningssystem.
Det, och att de råkar vara på fel plats efter terroristattacken, är
tillräckligt för att bli stämplad som terroristmisstänkt och berövad
mänskliga och medborgerliga rättigheter.

Åcon (pronounced with an Å as in awesome) is mainly a relaxacon.
Fans from Sweden and Finland, and some from the rest of the world,
meet a spring weekend in Mariehamn to have a good time.
The programme is a single track, with generous pauses between the
items, but if the items were few, they were all the more
interesting!

Åcon is a small convention where fans from Sweden and Finland, and
some from Åland, Norway, Great Brittain and USA, meet for an extended
spring weekend of science fiction and a good time in general.
